Cardinal Bertone recently said it is homosexuality, not celibacy, that is linked to pedophilia child abuse. I note that many of these cases are not per se pedophilia as the young people are post puberty. By whatever diagnosis it is always horrifying. There is a psychologist who speaks out in support of the Cardinal’s read on the situation. Note that as these cases moved toward homosexuality the media has consistently grown quiet. Only in cases of Bishops paying off ex-lovers has there been any real media attention to the active homosexuality problem. To see the psychologists article click here.

If this is strictly a homosexual problem that has happened in the Catholic Church, then what of all these programs that are in place, that I find very helpful? There would be no need for them, would there?
I have some concerns because not all homosexuals abuse children. Although it is right that the homosexual acts are considered disordered, just because someone suffers from SSA does not mean they will abuse. It almost seems like the connection that is made when someone views pornography they will abuse which is not always the case. These behaviors are deviant, abnormal but they in themselves do not mean someone will abuse.
Could you comment on that?
I have heard in the fall we are going to get an update which will most likely not include the connection to homosexuality.
There are many people upset over this because it would seem obvious that SS would mean that someone at least had that inclination (and I hold this for older teens and adults) but not necessarily for youth and younger – or that is my understanding. I hold those as being mentally disturbed.
Plus, not all of these that abused (middle group too) abused just males, they abused females too.
